Holcombe 6 Leek Town 3

HOLCOMBE men's 1sts remained on course to take the National Premier Division 3 title after a convincing 6-3 win over Leek Town.

Greg Nichol was again on form, the South African striking a hat-trick past the mid-table opponents to keep Holcs' unbeaten run going and title aspirations on track.

Denzel Dolley claimed two goals, while John Paul grabbed the other - taking him to within one goal of 100.

Coach Mike Haines was expecting a tough game and was glad to see his forwards continue their impressive run of displays.

He said: "They gave us a good game at their place and so there was a little trepidation and we knew they'd give us a good game.

"But once we were in front we bossed the game and with an awesome attack like ours sides just can't live with it."

Haines also spoke of the great support the team have been getting this season.

"The terrace was full up and we've been getting super support which must apply a certain amount of pressure on the visiting teams."
