Preston v Charlton

CHARLTON are considering a move in the January transfer window for a South Korean striker, manager Alan Pardew has admitted.

He said: "We're looking at a DVD of the player but we're not doing anything on him at the moment.

"Because we're not sure of his contract situation I don't want to talk out of turn."

Pardew dismissed speculation that he is preparing a move for Hull City's Dean Marney. "That's news to me," he added. He did confirm that some of his players could be leaving when the January window opens but denied striker Luke Varney - a subject of attention from Premier League clubs - could depart.

Pardew faces former Crystal Palace team-mate Alan Irvine, the new manager of Preston North End on Saturday at Deepdale with Chris Powell back in contention having recovered from a long-term knee injury.

Before the international break, the Addicks registered three straight wins in the Championship without conceding a goal and the manager is keen to maintain winning momentum at Preston.

But he warned: "There will be a reaction from the Preston players as they will be out to impress their new manager.

"We must be ready for that."

Charlton are likely to be unchanged at Preston with Pardew persisting with a 4-5-1 formation.
