ADRIAN PENNOCK: hoping to edge closer to play-off place

Welling v Cambridge City

MANAGER Adrian Pennock will use his squad to the full as Welling look to claim third place in Conference South tonight.

The Wings host Cambridge City at Gravesend and Northfleet's Stonebridge Road ground knowing victory will move them a step nearer to the play-offs.

It will be the third game in five days for both sides and Pennock is pleased with the versatlity of his squad.

"I was pleased with the lads that came on against Farnborough on Monday," he said. "We had used all three subs by the hour.

"Hector Mackie and Sam Tucknott gave us great energy and Des Boateng gave another solid performance. It's important that we use all of the players in the squad during the run-in."

Steve Perkins (ankle) and Leon Solomon (knee) both face late fitness tests while Steve Harper could return.

Skipper Jamie Day starts a two-match suspension but Richard Carpenter (illness) is expected to return to the starting line-up.
