THE players from both Kent and Oxford University Centre of Cricketing Excellence were looking to blow off the morning's cobwebs and start play after a frustrating day in The Parks.

Heavy overnight storms and morning showers ensured no play was possible before lunch but, after a mid-afternoon inspection, the match umpires planned a 3.30pm start.

Unbeaten Kent will go into the game with a much-changed squad led by acting captain Ed Smith.

Joe Denley from Whitstable is due for a first-class debut, while pace bowlers Amjad Khan and David Stiff will hope for eye catching perfromances in order to cement a place in Kent's championship side.
