Rams deserve respect

RAMSGATE boss Jim Ward takes the club into their third Ryman League Premier Division campaign admitting they can no longer be considered new boys at that level.

They followed up an impressive ninth place finish in the first season, by reaching the play-offs back in April, only to see their hopes ended by a controversial refereeing decision in the semi-finals at Staines.

Rams start at home to AFC Hornchurch at Southwood on Saturday, and Ward said: “We are all ready now, and if you offered me the same this season I would take it.

“We have gained respect since being promoted by winning Ryman League, Division 1 South. The first year we didn’t have enough strength in depth, but last season we finished stronger.

“I would also like to see us get through to the First Round proper of the FA Cup, especially for the chairman, and it would be nice to see us get on TV.”
