Smith welcomes back key players

Bognor v Welling

WELLING manager Neil Smith is expected to make at least three changes to his line-up at Bognor on Saturday.

The Wings are on the back of a run of just one win in six Blue Square South games but Smith is boosted by the return of Robbie Ryan, Andy Pugh and Charles Ademeno.

Ryan has been sidelined for two weeks with a hamstring injury and Ademeno was not available for last weekend's FA Trophy loss at Wealdstone.

Pugh, who had his loan extended from Gillingham for a further month, has recovered from illness, which saw him miss out last weekend.

Smith, who received the backing of Welling secretary Barrie Hobbins this week, said: "I expected us to stand up and be counted at Wealdstone and we didn't - so we need to make sure we compete against Bognor.

"I know the supporters were hurting last weekend and I was too. We've got to pull out a performance for them.

"Maybe I've been too kind to the players, maybe we look after them too much. I need them all to put in a display on Saturday and show how much they were hurting as well."

Smith will decide whether he comes into midfield to partner skipper Richard Carpenter or if Sam Keevill retains his place in the starting line-up.
