St Mary's boxers triumph in Belfast

TWO representatives of St Mary’s Boxing Club at Chatham, Billy Rumble and Tom Dallas, were both victorious when the South of England select team travelled to take on Ireland in a representative match.

Rumble beat Charles Ward of Twin Towns 23-13 while Dallas knocked out Cathal McMonagle of Holy Trinity Club in Belfast.

But despite the efforts of the St Mary’s pair, the South of England suffered a 3-2 defeat to Ireland.

The following day, three of four St Mary’s boxers reached the quarter-finals of the Golden Gloves Championships.

Jack Budge beat Hamza Rafiq, Bernie Saunders beat Jordan Gelder and George Shrubb beat Gian Gill, while Danny Wooledge lost out to Jackson Collins.
