GILLINGHAM manager Mark Stimson has circulated a list of unwanted players as he tries to trim his squad.

Stimson wants to get rid of nine players during the January transfer window so that he can free up funds to bring in his own targets.

Stimson is looking to off-load midfielders Steve Lomas, Craig Stone and Aaron Brown together with strikers Dave Graham and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu.

Also on the list is goalkeeper Kelvin Jack and defenders Craig Armstrong, Marvin Hamilton and Tom Bryant.

Stimson said: “It will just be circulated saying, ‘look, these players need to play football, would you be interested in taking them on loan’.

“Obviously, to bring one in you need to send one out to balance the books.”

Among the names is striker Dave Graham, who refused to go out on loan during the last transfer window, but Stimson is hoping he will be more willing this time around.

Stimson said: “If he gets an opportunity this time, take it, go and play football, score a few goals and prove me wrong like Gary Mulligan has and get back into this team.

“Don’t sit around and not be involved because it must be so frustrating. I remember when I was a player it’s not good to train all week and not play at the weekend.

“You’re better off dropping down a level or two just to play but we are all different.”

Stimson wants to be working with a squad of around 20 players but he currently has over 30 at the club which the manager admits is too many to train with.

“When you have such large numbers you do get a couple who you wish weren’t there,” he said.
