Welling's on-loan striker Jerome Anderson capped an impressive debut by scoring inside three minutes on Saturday.

Anderson, who joined from Stevenage, raced on to Matthew McEntegart's long ball forward and blasted beyond keeper Ryan Northmore.

It put the Wings on the way to a comfortable victory in Blue Square South. Although veteran campaigner Marc McGregor saw his lob come back off the bar soon after, Welling were in control of the first half but they did have to battle against the strange decisions of referee Sean Feerick as well as the visitors.

Lee Blackburn had already gone close before the added the second after 32 minutes, latching on to Anderson's through ball before twisting and turning Ludovic Quistin one way and the other and firing home.

Weston had chances at the start of the second period but Jamie Turner pulled off a fantastic close-range save to deny Charlie Comyn-Platt.

Anderson twice went close, along with Sonny Cobbs, as Welling always threatened a third while substitute Joe Healey and Ellis Green were both denied late on.

Welling entertain St Albans on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
