Weymouth v Welling United

WELLING go into their clash against Weymouth on Saturday boosted by the news that defender Leon Solomon has signed a contract to stay at Park View Road until the end of the season.

Solomon joined the club from Gillingham at the start of the campaign and has made the left-back slot his own.

Wings boss Adrian Pennock said: "He is a good player, is keen to learn and has fitted in really well."

The news should prove some comfort to Pennock who is currently missing several major players through injury.

"Lee (Gledhill), Steve Perkins and James Pinnock are big players for us so the sooner we get them back the better."

Perkins (calf) could return at Weymouth, while Pinnock has seen a specialist about his ankle injury.

Pennock is hoping for a similar result at Weymouth as last season when the Wings came away comfortable 3-0 winners.

He said: "We're hoping to do what we did last year against them, we played really well. But they are a good team, they've lots of money and are the Chelsea of our league in many ways."
