PORTSMOUTH'S England Under-21 captain Gary O’Neil is being linked with a move to Gillingham.

But Gills player-manager Andy Hessenthaler is annoyed with how the loan move for the Beckenham-born midfielder has been exposed.

He said: “I’m disappointed because a good source should have known better. Now there will be more clubs interested and we could lose out on a player that I tried to sign last season.

“I haven’t even had the chance to speak to his manager Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth yet but I will next week when the lad is back from international duty. I need to see what plans Harry has for him."
