Maidstone: Air ambulance lands as man pulled from river

A man is fighting for his life after being pulled from the River Medway.

Police, paramedics and fire crews arrived at the scene in Fairmeadow, Maidstone at around 11.40am following a call raising concerns for the man's welfare.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance landed in nearby Brenchley Gardens.

The man was pulled onto the river bank and treated by medics before being taken to the air ambulance to be flown to King's College Hospital, London.

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed the man was in a life-threatening condition after going into cardiac arrest.

He was given CPR while in the ambulance on the way to hospital.
