Being seen to be green

A campaign to make Maidstone one of the nation's most environmentally-conscious communities is about to begin.

From Monday, there will be week-long exhibitions at The Mall Chequers, Fremlin Walk and Royal Star shopping centres, to encourage residents to adopt a greener lifestyle.

Town centre manager Bill Moss said: “Tackling climate change will be one of the most important things this generation does, and everyone needs to get involved.”

The first steps towards a plastic free future came with the launch of Maidstone eco bags, jute carriers with the logo It’s In The Bag.
