Car fire in Mote Park, Maidstone

Police and Maidstone Borough Council are working together to remove a car that was dumped and set alight in Mote Park, Maidstone.

The vehicle was burnt out last Sunday (January 10) but police have so far been unable to trace the owner.

Officers were called just after 10pm to reports of a car alight in the park off Mote Avenue, which is popular with families and dog walkers.

A Mote Park spokesman said at the weekend: "Police and Maidstone Borough Council are working to have this removed. Such a shame that people will attempt to damage the park."

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended the following day and have made several attempts to contact the registered owner of the vehicle in an attempt to establish the circumstances behind the incident."

Anyone with information can call Kent Police on 101.
