M2 westbound between Maidstone and Rochester reopens following crash

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash on a motorway.

The westbound carriageway of the M2 was closed between junction 3 for Maidstone and junction 2 for Rochester due to the incident.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene just before 6pm this evening (April 19) to reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The driver of the car was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police officers were still in attendance along with National Highways officers who were assisting with traffic management at around 7pm.

The carriageway reopened just after 8pm.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “We appreciate your patience while the emergency services dealt with the incident.”

There were around two miles of congestion and drivers were told to expect waits of more than 20 minutes.

Motorists were being advised to exit the motorway at junction 3 and follow the diversion signs to rejoin the carriageway.
