Eyewitnesses told KentOnline both vehicles looked "badly damaged."

The crash and resulting road closure caused long delays in Maidstone town centre and beyond tonight.

Many roads were practically gridlocked coming into the town, with congestion just beginning to lift at 9pm, after the road was fully reopened.

Police warned drivers to expect long delays.
