Now England are out of the World Cup it’s time to turn your attention to a proper summer sport - track and field athletics.

Medway and Maidstone Athletic Club are inviting people to run, jump or throw at their open day at Sutton Valence School on Sunday.

It will take place at the excellent new arena opened last year by Sir Roger Bannister, pictured.

The taster sessions start at 12 noon and will go on until 4pm. The age restrictions are aged 8 to 80 and anyone is welcome if they have a wish to compete, or just participate for fun. Sutton Valence School is located in North Street, Sutton Valence and there is plenty of parking in the main school.

Chairman of Medway & Maidstone Athletic Club Paul Allcock said: "Although we are looking for competitive athletes, we are also providing coaching and advice for people who do not wish to compete. We now have one of the best running tracks in the South of England and we want to share this facility."

Although people are free to turn up on the day they can register your attendance at http://www.mandmac.org/
