Homeless man assaulted and robbed in Week Street, Maidstone

Police are looking for four teenagers after a homeless man was mugged for alcohol and cigarettes.

The victim, who suffered facial injuries in the attack, was first approached while he sat on a bench in Week Street, Maidstone, opposite the junction with Station Road.

The group, thought to include three teenage boys and a teenage girl, are said to have gone up to him demanding the alcohol he was drinking and cigarettes.

When he refused the group pulled him to his feet and tried to push him in the direction of Brenchley Gardens.

The man attempted to move and started running along Week Street towards the High Street.

He was reported to have fallen over at least once and was repeatedly assaulted while he was lying on the ground.

His phone, alcohol and cash were taken.

When the assault was over it is thought one of the teenage boys returned and hit the victim in the face.

It happened at about 9.45pm on Thursday.

Police are looking for the four people aged between 15 and 17 years old.

Two of the boys had blond hair and were slim or skinny, the third boy had dark hair and was also slim.

The girl had long blonde hair and was wearing jeans or trousers and a black jacket.
