retained at Maidstone Hospital

The campaign was stepped up when new
management was brought in at the hospitals after the C.diff hygiene
crisis in 2007.

Mr Carroll said: "The fact is babies
sometimes appear quickly and routine pregnancies can suddenly go
wrong and these are the main reasons why Maidstone should have full
maternity."
