Man charged over iPhone fraud in Maidstone shop

A man has been charged over an elaborate alleged fraud involving counterfeit iPhones.

Mirza Kamran, 37, is accused of purchasing an iPhone from a shop in Maidstone before returning a fake version in exchange for a refund of £699 in September last year.

He is also alleged to have stored 26 iPhones and a number of other counterfeits at his home in Benson Avenue, London.

Mr Kamran was arrested at Heathrow Airport last Thursday after returning to the UK from a trip to Pakistan.

He has since been charged with fraud by false representation, possessing an article for use in fraud, and possessing criminal property.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, May 25.
