Museum gets go-ahead for £2 million revamp

A MUSEUM is celebrating success in a £2 million bid for a major revamp.

Maidstone Museum, in St Faiths Street, Maidstone, will use the money to build a new wing with a modern entance, a glazed atrium cafe and visitor information centre.

Simon Lace, the museum’s manager, said: “We’re delighted that the Heritage Lottery Fund has chosen to support our project. Their help will be vital in allowing us to create 21st century facilities for the ever increasing number of people who visit our fantastic museum and wish to enjoy our outstanding collections.”

Planning permission for the museum extension was granted by Maidstone council last Thursday.
