Three people were taken to hospital following a serious crash on the M20 in the early hours of this morning.

Two people, including a 48-year-old woman, were taken to King's College Hospital in London for treatment and another was rushed to the William Harvey Hospital.

A total of five people were treated at the scene and all of them are reported to have been conscious by the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A lorry and two cars collided on between Junction 8 (Hollingbourne) and Junction 9 (Ashford) at approximately 1.50am.

Four ambulances and a land vehicle operated by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance were present at the scene.

The incident blocked all three lanes, which has caused heavy delays in the area.

Two lanes were reopened at about 6.10am but one remains closed.
