Volunteer officers tackled drug use across Maidstone, searching 15 people and arresting three.

On Saturday, March 30, six Special Constables patrolled the town centre, joined by two police dog handlers and their drugs dogs and searched 15 people on suspicion of possessing drugs. Three were arrested on suspicion of possession of controlled substances, and were all later given cautions.

A fourth man, a 30-year-old from Margate, arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply ecstasy, was released on bail pending further inquiries.

In Tunbridge Wells, two Special Constables also conducted licensed premises visits and drug searches.

PC Sharon Turner said: "As well as the arrests that were made, we also seized a number of packets of drugs from the streets that had been dropped. This shows that the action we were taking in the town was showing people that drugs were ‘too hot to handle’ and they were quickly dumped. We were assisted in this operation by both the dog section and the local drug liaison officer and it’s great to see regular officers and special constables working alongside each other to help keep the town a safe place to socialise.
