Tonbridge Angels boss Tommy Warrilow hopes wins over the teams around them will be enough to secure their survival

Tonbridge may still be flirting dangerously with relegation from Blue Square Bet South but manager Tommy Warrilow insists Angels fans can draw encouragement on two fronts.

Wednesday’s 1-1 home draw with Weston, when Angels were only denied victory by a last-minute equaliser, left Tonbridge just two points above the relegation zone with six matches left to play.

But three of those games are against sides in the bottom six, starting with Sunday’s trip to Hayes.

And Warrilow (pictured) said: "The good thing is that we are still in control of our own destiny. If we beat the teams around us we’ll be OK and we have also turned the corner in terms of performances.

"We have only lost once in the last four games and, although we didn’t play well against Billericay (in the 1-1 draw on Easter Monday), getting that late equaliser was important.

"It’s frustrating because our record against the top sides this season has been good but we’ve let ourselves down against teams we should be beating.

"The important thing now is just making sure we stay in this league because we worked so hard to get here and then we can sit down at the end of season and talk about where we go from there."

Warrilow is hoping that centre-half Olly Schulz, who missed the Weston game because he was feeling unwell, will have recovered.
