Maidstone: Travellers remain in Vinters Road car park

A group of travellers who were ordered to move from a Maidstone car park last week are still on site this morning.

Police and council officials were called after nine caravans and eight other vehicles arrived in Vinters Road at 7.50pm on Tuesday.

The matter was referred to landowner Maidstone Borough Council, which delivered an enforcement notice requesting them to leave by 4pm on Friday.

However, this morning five of the nine caravans and several vehicles remain.

A Maidstone Borough Council spokesman said officers will be taking further legal action to move the travellers this week.
