Conservationist David Bellamy was special guest at a KM awards ceremony to honour eco-minded schools.

Primary schools were recognised for their commitment to improving the environment by walking to and from school and, in turn, removing car journeys from the road.

They were presented with certificates for their efforts at the KM Walk to School Awards at the Ramada Hotel, Maidstone, watched by the famous botanist.

To find out who the winners were, see Friday's Kent Messenger.

The awards were supported by Ground:zero Productions, the Ramada Maidstone Hotel, Veolia Environmental Services, and D.Isom Printers.

KM Walk to School schemes are KCC and Medway Council-led initiatives and are sponsored by Denne, Bel UK (Mini Babybel), Ringway, Veolia, Eurostar, The Co-operative, Southern Water and P&0 Ferries.
