A woman has been arrested after reportedly being drunk in charge of a child.

British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Brenchley Gardens in Maidstone after concerns were raised by railway staff at Maidstone East at 9.15am.

Officers pursued the woman, in her 30s, and arrested her.

Maidstone police were looking after the child and carrying out welfare checks while the she was in custody.

She has since been released pending further investigation.
