Maidstone-born Alessia Russo pulls out of England Women's squad for friendlies against USA and Czech Republic

Alessia Russo will miss out on a return to the scene of her greatest triumph after being ruled out of England's next two matches.

The Lionesses head to a sold-out Wembley on Friday for the first time since beating Germany in the Euro 22 final in July.

Sarina Wiegman's side face world champions America in a friendly but Maidstone-born Russo has withdrawn from the squad with a "small injury".

The Manchester United striker, who scored four goals during England's European Championship-winning campaign, will also miss next Tuesday's friendly against the Czech Republic.

Russo, 23, has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances for England, including an 11-minute hat-trick in a 20-0 World Cup qualifying win over Latvia last November.

She appeared exclusively as a substitute in the Euros but had started England's last two games following the retirement of Ellen White.
