Around 500 of Kent’s finest endurance runners converged at the county showground, Detling, on Saturday for the Kent Cross Country Championships on a frozen course that was tougher than it looked.

Medway & Maidstone AC won both the men’s team trophies and the senior women’s three-to-score cup, as well as providing the individual champions in Mike Coleman and Natalie Gray. It was Coleman's sixth successive title.

The leading club overall, by a cross country mile, was Tonbridge AC, with 22 of the available 62 medals won.

They were followed by Medway & Maidstone (10) and a resurgent Invicta East Kent (10).
