Stones boss gets helping hand from his namesake

MAIDSTONE UNITED joint-manager Alan Walker has taken on board his namesake Clive to assist with coaching as Lloyd Hume prepares for a long suspension following his dismissal for the second time this season during the recent derby at Tonbridge.

The two Walkers, who are not related, go back 25 years from the time Alan played for Telford and Clive was at Nuneaton.

Clive Walker, who has been out of work since leaving Ashford earlier in the season, watched Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Margate and will take training on Thursday.

Alan Walker said: "Clive is a very experienced manager and coach who knows the game inside out. We have not replaced Jimmy Strouts on the management team since he left for Faversham and as as most clubs run with a manager, assistant manager and coach, his input will be most welcome.

"Because of my injury I'm not allowed to sit on the bench so Clive can do that job alongside Lloyd. Because of business commitments, Lloyd has found more and more demands on his time. He is also facing a suspension so Clive can help us out."
