Stones punished by clinical finishing

Maidstone United 1 Ashford Town (Middlesex) 4

Maidstone United were left thanking other results going their way at the bottom of the Ryman League, Premier Division as their survival hopes took a severe dent at Bourne Park on Saturday.

The visitors scored three goals in the second-half in a game where Maidstone had their fair share of opportunities. Ben Lewis was the only man to convert one, as his 48th minute strike levelled the game at one-each.

But the men from Middlesex scored in the first 10 minutes and then pounced on the break in the last quarter and three occasions to finish on top.

Maidstone remain outside the drop zone by a point and a place after only one of the bottom eight won on Saturday. They now face Harrow, and fellow strugglers Heybridge and Folkestone in their final three games.
