Driver captures moment lorry lets geese and goslings cross Leybourne Way in Larkfield

A driver captured an adorable moment a lorry let geese and their goslings cross a busy road.

Mick Foy saw the act of kindness happen along Leybourne Way in Larkfield at around 8.30am on Tuesday.

He said: “It was quite a moment and felt very rare to witness. For about three or four minutes they waddled down the road.

“I was a bit amazed to see this great monster of a lorry behind them.

“The geese were quite proud of themselves!”

The 62-year-old from Ditton was on his way to a construction site in Surrey when he witnessed the cute moment.

“I was in a line of traffic and had just passed Tesco,” he explained. “I thought someone had broken down.

“I thought ‘not another holdup’ and craned my neck to try and see as it was a bit unusual to take this long.

“I was there for about 10 minutes before I saw it. It’s amazing how the youngsters follow the leader.”

The video shows two older geese waddling along the road with five or six little goslings by their side.

Mick believes they were venturing out from a stretch of water across to Leybourne Lakes.

He says the lorry driver had put his hazards on and was waving his arm frantically out of the window to warn other motorists.

“Other people behind him were getting a bit anxious and some started hooting,” he added.

“I thanked him as I passed by – he needs a well-deserved shout-out for his good deed.

“I made sure to tell the first two drivers behind him what was happening, as they had no idea!”
