The new dog wash allows owners to clean particularly messy pooches before heading back to their car or home.

Yesterday (April 17), the park posted several pictures of the facility on Facebook.

It said: “We are delighted to announce the opening of our brand new dog wash machine located in the main car park next to the toilet block.

“We are pleased to be working in partnership with Polygon Pets Limited on this new venture.

“We are very excited to host the first machine of its kind in Kent and hope that many of our visitors and dog lovers will make use of this facility in the coming weeks, months and years.”

Dozens of people commented and praised the unique idea.

Sally Smith said: “Love this. So handy to have nearby. Used the one at Sandbanks in Bournemouth and they are great.”

Claire Stone added: “This is brilliant. What a fantastic idea. Let’s hope this is kept well and used responsibly!”

The self-service wash offers temperature-controlled warm water, a range of environmentally-friendly shampoos and a two-speed dryer.

“For the cost of £3 you will receive three minutes of time to use all of the services available whether that be shampoo, conditioner or specific flea treatments,” the post went on to say.

“If you have a particularly muddy pup it's very easy to extend your time for a further three minutes.”

The machine will be available all-year round.

The 230-acre park was created in 2004 and is popular with families, cyclists, walkers and water sports enthusiasts.

An eco cafe was unveiled in July 2022 and featured the latest in low-carbon technology.

It cost £880,000 and replaced the Leybourne Lakes Café which had been there for six years.
