Lane closures will be put in place for five days on the M20 as work starts to upgrade it to a smart motorway.
Starting today, from 8pm to 6am, two lanes will be shut on the London-bound carriageway between Junction 3 for the M26 and Junction 5 for Aylesford.
The closure are being put in place while surveys are carried out by Highways England.
The £100m project is set to add an extra lane in both directions and improve traffic flow with mandatory variable speed limits.
Further surveys are scheduled until April and work on the new carriageway is due to start in 2017 or early 2018. It is expected to be open to traffic by 2019 or 2020.
