Air ambulance called to M2 crash between Gillingham and Sittingbourne

Drivers faced delays after a collision involving three vehicles on the M2.

The air ambulance was called to the coastbound carriageway between junction 4 for Gillingham and junction 5 for Sittingbourne.

Kent Police confirmed they were called at 1.04pm to a report of a collision involving three vehicles. Injuries have been reported

Ales have now been re-opened and the accident has been cleared, but drivers should expect slow-moving traffic.

Traffic has been brought to a standstill on the M2

Police officers attended the scene along with Secamb and road closures were put in place on both sides of the carriageway to allow the air ambulance to land.

The air ambulance has now left the scene around 2.30pm

The M2 Londonbound was also closed whilst the accident was dealt with.

Meanwhile on the M2 Londonbound in the Three Crutches area, traffic officers were deployed to search for a carpet on the road.

The carpet has now safely been removed.
