Appeal after burglars snatch expensive guitar in Medway

Police are appealing for information following a burglary in Gillingham in which a distinctive guitar was stolen.

The 1979 red Fender Stratocaster was taken from the owner’s home on Layfield Road sometime between 8:30am and 5:30pm on 27 October. The offender smashed a rear window to gain access to the property.

Det Insp Dave Berry said: "The guitar is very distinctive and we would like to hear from anyone who may know the whereabouts of it or may have been offered to buy one that matches the description. The guitar is very valuable to the owner and he is obviously keen to get it back as soon as possible."

The guitar is described as red with a white scratch-plate and black pick up and controls. Anyone with information about the guitar can contact Kent Police in Medway on 01634 792521 or Kent CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. (quoting crime reference number DY/017015/09).
