Bomb removed after scare at Rochester Riverside

A wartime bomb was discovered near a new housing development this morning.

A bomb disposal unit was called out to Cory's Road in Rochester just before 8am today.

Luxury flats are currently being built on the brownfield site as part of the Rochester Riverside Regeneration Project.

This is the third time a Second World War bomb has been found on the site.

On previous occasions Rochester train station had to be evacuated for passenger safety.

Police secured the site and a bomb disposal unit safely removed the wartime munition device.
