Traffic chaos hits Wainscott Bypass after lorry sheds load

Traffic built up after this lorry shed its load of timber near the Wainscott Bypass.

The accident happened just after 1pm on the roundabout between Berwick Way and Vanguard Way, leading to the Medway Tunnel.

Police were called to help with traffic management.

The load of timber was on the Strood side of the roundabout.

It caused long queues in the tunnel and within the Medway City industrial estate, but it has now cleared.

Meanwhile, the A228 Malling Road was partly blocked in both directions after a lorry overturned around The Street and Tonbridge Road.

The accident happened halfway between Mereworth and King's Hill, but the road has now fully re-opened.
