Man taken to hospital after crash on Maidstone Road, Chatham

Motorists suffered delays in Chatham earlier today after a crash involving two vehicles.

Police were called out at just before noon after the smash in Maidstone Road, after a car collided with a wall and a second vehicle.

The smash has caused long delays for other motorists in the area and one man has suffered minor injuries.

The accident happened near the junction of Shirley Avenue, on Davis Estate on the A229 Maidstone Road which leads to Blue Bell Hill.

A pensioner living in Walderslade reported the crash had caused traffic in the village to come to a standstill and others were stuck on Maidstone Road near the Asda store with traffic going nowhere.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Officers were called at 11.51am on Friday 3 February 2017 where a car is believed to have collided with a wall and a second vehicle.

“Officers are at the scene along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service, following a report of minor injuries to one man.

“The man is being taken to a local hospital.”
