Motorists faced delays in Strood after a busy road was closed to allow an electrical cable to be repaired.

An electricity cable crossing Upnor Road and Anthonys Way, Strood, the Medway Tunnel approach road, came loose during the morning and later, police closed the road to allow engineers to repair it.

The closure caused traffic to build up near Medway City Estate and on the Wainscott by-pass, shortly after it was closed at 12.30pm on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Medway Police said: "The road was reopened shortly after 2pm."
