A house in Medway suspected of being linked to drug dealing and anti-social behaviour has been closed down by police and boarded up.

The home on Hartington Street, Chatham, had been brought to the attention of police following a number of complaints from people living in the area.

The complaints related to drug dealing at the property and the disorder associated with it.
Earlier today, Medway Magistrates' Court approved the closure notice.

A warrant was carried out there on Tuesday, and a 51-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of heroin possession. She has been released on bail until November 10.

PC Bryan Ward, drug liaison officer, said: "We've received a number of complaints about suspected drug dealing and anti-social behaviour in relation to this house.

"This kind of activity can seriously affect the quality of people's lives and it will not be tolerated.

"We would encourage anyone who suspects that illegal drug activity is taking place in their local area to contact police immediately.

"We have also set up a dedicated phone line specifically to take calls in relation to suspected drug activity in Medway which is 01634 792515."
