The inquest of a man whose body was found in the River Medway at Halling, near Rochester, was opened this afternoon.
He has been named as Kris Rackstraw, aged 39.
He was discovered at Elmhaven Marina in Rochester Road on Monday.
The area was cordoned off by police as officers launched an investigation.
The coroner, sitting at Archbishop’s Palace, Maidstone, adjourned the hearing pending toxicology tests.
