Inconsistent Chatham Town suffered a 3-0 humbling at Leatherhead on Saturday as they slipped to ninth in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Brendon Cass fired tamely at the keeper after good work from Rob Denness in the only Chats chance of a goalless first half which the home side controlled.

The deadlock was broken three minutes after the break when Leatherhead broke and Dean Ruddy could only parry an effort into the path of Mark Simmons who made no mistake.

The lead was doubled within 10 minutes when slack defending allowed Rob Hill to fire in from a tight angle.

Lee Barnett, pictured, saw a shot saved 18 minutes from time - Town's first attempt of the half - and five minutes later it was 3-0 when unmarked sub Josh Smith converted.

Chats sub Matt Rowe went close to a consolation late-on before John Wilfort was shown a straight red card.
