Dramatic footage has emerged showing a lorry on fire on the hard shoulder of the M2.
Traffic was queueing on the coastbound carriageway following the blaze.
One lane remains closed at the scene shortly before junction 3 for the A229 at Blue Bell Hill.
The driver was not injured and pulled the vehicle, which was carrying furniture, over to the hard shoulder.
The blaze has been extinguished by fire crews who managed to stop the flames spreading to the load.
Highways England traffic officers are also at the scene after the fire broke out at abut 6.30am.
All three lanes of the motorway were closed for about an hour while crews from Strood and Rochester fire stations dealt with the flames.
After bringing the flames under control, two lanes of the motorway were reopened to motorists.
Firefighters have now left the scene.
