Two men have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap after police received a 999 call from a man who said he was in the boot of a car.

The call was disconnected before full details could be obtained.

Officers were then called to Chatham Hill, Chatham at 6.30pm last night after receiving reports that a man had apparently been forced into the boot of car.

Immediate action by local patrols resulted in a vehicle being located in Green Street, Gillingham and a man was then found in the boot.

Two men, aged 31 and 38, both from Gillingham, have been arrested on suspicion of kidnap. They are currently in police custody.

A search of the car also resulted in weapons being seized by police.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have now launched an investigation.
