Vaughan Edwards, Davion Bascoe and Peter Brown jailed for drug offences after raid on Chatham house

Three men have been jailed for drug offences after a warrant led to their arrest.

Vaughan Edwards, Davion Bascoe and Peter Brown were caught using intelligence received by Kent Police's Operation Raptor team, which works to prevent and disrupt violent crime, the supply of Class A drugs and the possession of offensive weapons.

They received information suggesting the men were involved in drug dealing across Medway, Dartford and Gravesham.

On January 10 this year, they carried out a raid at a house in Thorold Road, Chatham where they arrested Edwards.

Bascoe was arrested nearby in Newnham Street.

Inside the house, officers found evidence linked to drug dealing including several mobile phones which contained texts relating to drug deals.

On January 10, police carried out another warrant in Park Road, London, where drug wraps, scales, gloves and a mobile phone were found.

This led to Brown’s arrest on January 23.

Edwards, 46, of Magpie Hall Road, Chatham and Bascoe, 32, of Charsley Road, Catford, were both found guilty by the jury of conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and also conspiracy to supply heroin.

Edwards was sent to prison for four years and 10 months and Bascoe for five years and nine months.

Peter Brown, 40, of Park Road, Leyton, was found guilty of possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, conspiracy to supply heroin and conspiracy to supply crack cocaine.

He was jailed for three years and 10 months.

All three appeared at Maidstone Crown Court at the beginning of July and were sentenced on July 27.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Robin Hemsley said: “These men each had a part to play in supplying and distributing drugs throughout the Medway towns, Dartford and Gravesham, so I’m pleased we have been able to remove them from the streets and disrupt the drug network that they were a part of.”
