Two elderly residents had to be rescued from their homes after a water main burst in Rochester.

Three feet of water flooded into six houses on Warren Wood Road just before 5am on Saurday.

Firefighters from Strood, Medway and Thameside fire stations spent over three hours at the scene.

After getting the residents out of their homes, they set about diverting the gushing water away from the properties while engineers arrived to try and fix the leak.

The Red Cross were at the scene providing assistance.

The evacuated residents are being looked after by neighbours, friends and family.
