A man who was spotted in 'distress' on the Medway Bridge has been taken to hospital.

All traffic was being temporarily held on the M2 between Junction 3 for Walderslade and Junction 2 for Rochester.

Kent Police say it received calls around 10am regarding concerns for a distressed man on the motorway near Rochester.

Officers attended the scene and spoke to the man who has been passed to health care professionals.

Several ambulances were seen travelling towards the bridge.

All lanes have now been reopened and traffic should start to ease.
