Three men were injured with suspected gunshot wounds
after an incident at the Railway Hand Car Wash in Railway
Street, Gillingham, next to the station, at 12.30pm yesterday
(Friday).

One man suffered what is believed to be a serious gunshot wound
to his leg and was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

The other two had minor injuries. None of the men's conditions
are life-threatening.

Witnesses described seeing a motorbike leave the scene.

A police helicopter was hovering over Gillingham for more than
two hours and armed officers were at the scene.

Police were reported to be hunting two men who may have
been armed.

The forecourt belonging to Railway Hand Car Wash, Barclay
Car Sales and the Truly Scrumptious snack bar was cordoned off as
police interviewed witnesses.

Upbury Way and along part of Cross Street. Surrounding areas,
including Eldon Street and Slicketts Hill, have remained open.

Reporter Rebecca Hughes, who has been at the scene, said there
were six police cars, together with at least four armed police.
