Police chased suspected bike thieves through Esplanade in Rochester

Two suspected thieves on bikes were chased through a park by police following reports of a burglary.

Officers were alerted to a report that two men had been disturbed as they left a storage area near houses in Corporation Street, Rochester, just before midnight on Monday (February 5).

With the assistance of CCTV operators, they went to Esplanade in Rochester and chased two men on bikes through a park.

One of the men was tracked down and arrested. The officers also seized a suspected stolen motorcycle helmet and a mountain bike.

An 18-year-old man from Erith was later bailed with conditions not to enter Kent, while inquiries continue.
